Six President’s Buckeye Accelerator teams awarded $50,000 for entrepreneurial ventures
Six Ohio State University student teams who participated in the first-ever President’s Buckeye Accelerator have each been awarded $50,000 to fund their entrepreneurial ventures.
The six winners were among 10 teams who pitched their ideas to a panel of Ohio entrepreneurs on April 6. The pitch finale took place at the 99P Labs facility and was hosted by the Keenan Center for Entrepreneurship, a campus-wide hub for the development of startup ventures.
Ohio State students honored with Goldwater Scholarships
Four students from The Ohio State University have been recognized by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program.
Juniors Lia Gomez-Perez, Anthony Moussa, Rakesh Murugesan and Mackenzie Scott were all named 2022 Goldwater Scholars, the prestigious national award for undergraduate researchers in science, math and engineering. Goldwater Scholars receive an award to cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, and room and board up to a maximum of $7,500.
Ohio State named top producer of Fulbright scholars and students
The Ohio State University is among only five institutions in the country to be named a top producer for both Fulbright U.S. scholar and U.S. student programs, according to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs.
Ohio State is tied for fifth nationally with six Fulbright scholar awards and is tied for 14th with 10 Fulbright student awards for the 2021-22 academic year.

Last week, President Kristina M. Johnson announced an additional $2 million per year over the next decade to enhance safety and security on and around campus.
Ohio State announces vaccination requirement
The rising prevalence of the more transmissible Delta variant is fueling the resurgence of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations – including in young and otherwise healthy unvaccinated people. Central, southern and southeastern Ohio have now recorded the highest number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients since January. Further, the number of hospitalized patients in these areas of the state rose an alarming 448% between mid-July and mid-August.
