Honors courses and undergraduate research will be core to your academic experience as an Honors student.
Honors Courses
Each year we offer more than 350 sections of Honors courses, in classrooms averaging 20 students per course and generally capping at 25 students. Honors Courses…
- Provide appropriate intellectual challenges
- Develop communication skills
- Foster analytical and critical thinking
- Build community among Honors students
Honors students enjoy University-Level Priority Scheduling, making them among the first to schedule courses each semester. This scheduling privilege enables students to register for their Honors courses and meet other requirements of the Honors Standards.
Research
By taking advantage of Ohio State’s vast research opportunities, you can contribute to groundbreaking discoveries and work with faculty and research staff who are nationally recognized in their fields. Research experiences can also make you more competitive for post-baccalaureate fellowships and scholarships, as well as entrance into the best graduate and professional schools and jobs.
The University Honors and Scholars Center works closely with Undergraduate Research & Creative Inquiry to support our Honors students pursuing undergraduate research as early as their first semester on campus.
Students who successfully complete an undergraduate research project culminating in an Honors Thesis will graduate from Ohio State “with Honors Research Distinction” on their Ohio State Diploma.
