ePortfolio is a digital collection that documents knowledge, skills, and abilities you have gained through all your experiences in college.
Creating and working on an ePortfolio enables you to figure out how all the different parts of your college experience fit together. In short, the ePortfolio is your chance to tell your story, and if you choose, share it with faculty, employers, and peers.
Using an ePortfolio can benefit you in many ways. Here are some of the big ones:
- Find your purpose. You might have a very clear idea of what you want to do with your life. But guess what? This is college. That will probably change a little, and maybe a lot. The ePortfolio gives you a place to figure that out.
- See your progress. Seeing a bunch of A's on your transcript will feel good, but it doesn't tell you much about what you've learned. Your ePortfolio is a thorough account of all your knowledge and skills.
- Get jobs, internships, scholarships… ePortfolios give employers a detailed inventory of what you have to contribute. But even if you never share it, creating an ePortfolio gives you crucial practice talking about what's important to you and what you want to accomplish. Also, sharing with faculty helps you get better, more detailed recommendation letters.
All Honors and Scholars students have access to an ePortfolio online course in Carmen. Check it out for guidance on all parts of your ePortfolio. If for some reason you don't have access, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
