Honors Standards

In Autumn 2024, the new University Honors Program Standards will come into effect.

Regardless of your college of enrollment or whether you change your major, transition from a regional campus, or transfer to Ohio State, your Honors experience will be consistent, guided by the Honors Standards.

University Honors Standards

First Year Honors Survey or Honors Module in Survey

18+ credit hours of Honors quality courses

Consistent experiential learning, culminating in Honors Thesis or thesis equivalent

Completion of Honors ePortfolio

Honors Reflection or Honors Module in Capstone

Maintain Minimum Honors GPA

Exactly how you fulfill these standards will vary based on your major or college of enrollment. Your Honors Advisor will assist you to ensure you are fulfilling the standards on time for your personal graduation plan.

Upon completion of the Honors Standards, you will graduate “with Honors” and/or “with Honors Research Distinction” on your Ohio State diploma.

College Honors Programs

For students enrolled prior to AU24

If you were enrolled in the Honors Program prior to AU24, your requirements are still driven by your college honors program. Please work with your academic advisor to ensure you are remaining on track for your Honors requirements.
