United Kingdom Scholarships

Ohio State selects its nominees for Scholarships to the United Kingdom each spring. Applications to be considered for Ohio State's nomination for these UK Awards are due by 9:00 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2017.

Through this process, we will select nominees for the Rhodes Scholarship and Marshall Scholarship. We may also identify students for other UK awards, such as the Churchill ScholarshipMitchell Scholarship, and Gates Cambridge Scholarship. These awards have later nomination deadlines, and interested students should contact the Undergraduate Fellowship Office.

About the Application Process

Students MUST be nominated by their undergraduate institution in order to apply for the Rhodes and Marshall Scholarships. You may not apply directly to the Rhodes or Marshall foundation.

The Ohio State University is currently taking applications to compete for these nominations. The OSU applications are due on 9:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017.  At this time, a panel of faculty and distinguished scholars will convene to review all applications. The panel will conduct interviews with a select number of applicants. OSU will announce our nominees for the Rhodes and Marshall Scholarships in April. The nominees will then work with faculty and staff to create a competitive application for the national Rhodes & Marshall deadlines in October 2017.

About the Marshall Scholarship

Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans of high ability to study for a degree in the United Kingdom. Approximately 30-35 Scholars are selected each year for study either at the graduate or occasionally undergraduate level at a UK institution in any field of study. Scholarships are available for one or two years. Scholars display distinction of intellect and character as evidenced both by their scholastic attainments and by their other activities and achievements. Preference will be given to candidates who display a potential to make a significant contribution to their own society. Selectors will also look for strong motivation and seriousness of purpose, including the presentation of a specific and realistic academic program.
