How to Get Started
Starting an e-Portfolio can seem like an overwhelming task. Remember, this is a tool that you should use
creatively and individually over time to process your learning experiences and
tell your story as a person and a learner.
We encourage you to start your e-Portfolio in whatever way you choose; however,
many students find it most comfortable to start with the About Me
page by adding a picture and a short personal statement and then to Add
an Artifact to their e-Portfolio based on their prior
experiences. When you create a new post, be sure to select the proper category from the sidebar to ensure your post appears on that page.
Accessing Your e-Portfolio
Go to http://u.osu.edu and use your university login credentials (your lastname.# and password)
Read and accept the Terms of Service
As soon as you accept the Terms of Service, you will land on the Dashboard for your own personal U.OSU site. You have the option to set the site to private if you don't want to use it yet. (http://resourcecenter.odee.osu.edu/uosu/choosing-public-protected-or-private-visibility)
On your Dashboard, you will see an option for Home, with "My Sites" directly under it.
Select the "My Sites" link
- Under your name, you'll see your e-Portfolio site listen (the site addess ends in hseportfolio). Click on Dashboard (do not click on Visit). You may need to wait a few moments while the site's template is applied.
You can go back to "My Sites" anytime to view your e-Portfolio via the site link.
Finally, returning to your u.osu.edu Dashboard, click on "My Sites" and make sure your primary site is one of yours and not the main u.osu.edu site.
More information about working with u.osu.edu can be found at: http://odee.osu.edu/resourcecenter/uosu
If you have any problems logging in or any technical problems with your site, send a message to firstname.lastname@example.org. Explain that you are a participant in the Honors & Scholars e-Portfolio program. Be sure to include your lastname.# and the name or URL of your e-Portfolio site.
