Through this process, we will select nominees for the Rhodes Scholarship and Marshall Scholarship. We may also identify students for other UK awards, such as the Churchill Scholarship, Mitchell Scholarship, and Gates Cambridge Scholarship. About the Application Process
Students MUST be nominated by their undergraduate institution in order to apply for the Rhodes and Marshall Scholarships. You may not apply directly to the Rhodes or Marshall foundation.
In the spring, interested students will submit an application for
university nomination. A panel of faculty and distinguished scholars will
convene to review all applications. The panel will conduct interviews with a
select number of applicants. OSU will announce our nominees for the Rhodes and
Marshall Scholarships in April. The nominees will then work with faculty and
staff to create a competitive application for the national Rhodes &
Marshall deadlines in October.

To compete for the Rhodes and/or Marshall scholarships, students must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a minimum 3.7 GPA

About the Rhodes Scholarship
Each year, the Rhodes Trust awards 32 scholarships to US students. Rhodes Scholars are funded for two years of study at the University of Oxford, with the possibility of renewal for a third year. Proven intellectual ability and academic achievement of a high standard are the first qualities required of Rhodes applicants, but they will also be required to show integrity of character, interest in and respect for their fellow beings, the ability to lead, and the energy to use their talents to the full.

About the Marshall Scholarship
Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans of high ability to study for a degree in the United Kingdom. Approximately 30-35 Scholars are selected each year for study either at the graduate or occasionally undergraduate level at a UK institution in any field of study. Scholarships are available for one or two years. Scholars display distinction of intellect and character as evidenced both by their scholastic attainments and by their other activities and achievements. Preference will be given to candidates who display a potential to make a significant contribution to their own society. Selectors will also look for strong motivation and seriousness of purpose, including the presentation of a specific and realistic academic program.
