Apply to the Honors Collegium

Students participates in research in a physics lab.About Our Program
The Honors Collegium is a program for purposeful undergraduates who expect to distinguish themselves beyond the baccalaureate degree. The Collegium also serves all undergraduates pursuing national scholarships and fellowships. Members of the Collegium are identified early through a competitive application process. These students create customized learning experiences, embrace rigorous academics, and aspire to become intellectual leaders in the global community.

Students can become members of the Honors Collegium through two routes:

  • Presidential Scholars, who are selected through the Maximus Scholarship competition, will be admitted to the Collegium upon enrollment into the Ohio State University. Eligible high school seniors who compete in the Maximus competition must complete a supplementary Honors Online Scholarship Application (HOSA) if they wish to be considered for the Presidential Scholarship.

  • Purposeful first and second year students with excellent credentials and a minimum 3.7 GPA can apply during our annual application process in early spring. This process is extremely competitive, with less than 20% of applicants accepted into the program.

Who Should Apply
Application is competitive and open to all first and second year students who are looking towards pursuing advanced degree study and meet the credentials stated above.  Successful applicants share the following characteristics in no particular order:

  • Capacity and desire to lead and motivate others
  • Creativity, initiative, and perseverance
  • Currently pursuing or planning undergraduate research
  • Demonstrated leadership
The Collegium application will be available January 2010.
