Honors Athens
As an Honors student in your second year or higher you are eligible to
participate in the Honors Athens study abroad program. This program begins with
enrollment in the winter quarter course titled Culture of Contemporary Greece
(Modern Greek H241) and culminates with a spring break trip to Athens and its
surroundings. The winter quarter course will explore the culture of contemporary
Greece through the study of Greek history, literature and folklore. Topics to be
investigated in the course will include the rise of the Greek nation, the role
of the classical and Byzantine past, as well as Greek language, politics and
social relationships
The trip will begin in Athens where the group will visit key archaeological
sites such as:
- Acropolis
- The National Archaeological Museum
- the National Gallery
- the Byzantine Museum
- the Benaki Museum
- Plaka
- the flea market
Visits outside of Athens will take students to:
- the island of Hydra
- Byzantine monastery of Osios Loucas
- Olympia
- Mycenae
- Delphi

- Pre-course credit: 5 Credits of Modern Greek H241 / 3 Credits of Modern Greek 697 for the in-country portion

Honors London
The London Honors program offers a unique opportunity for first quarter freshmen
in the Honors program. Students will be in one of four class sections and take an
autumn quarter class focusing on London’s culture and history. The class is co-taught
by a faculty and staff member. The course culminates in a 9-day visit to England.
Highlights of the
trip include:
- British Museum
- London Eye
- Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre
- St. Paul’s Cathedral
- Tower of London
- Westminster Abbey
- Other sites as determined by the section facilitators

The application deadline is August 1, 2011.
To access the online application for London Honors, please follow the steps
listed below:
- Go to Buckeye Link.
- Scroll down to the "Academics" section.
- Select "Study Abroad." Select "Study Abroad – Online Application."
- You will then be prompted to enter your OSU name.# and password.
The application is general and is used by OSU’s Office of International Affairs
for all study abroad programs. Please note the following two exceptions for
London Honors that are applicable to first quarter students only:
Ohio State Advising Report
First quarter students do not have an advising report to upload. However, the application system will not let you proceed without attaching something. PLEASE attach a blank document as your advising report. Disregard the request for an advising report in the application
Study Abroad Reference
First quarter students are not required to submit a reference. Disregard the
request for a reference.
